Ellerbe pair faces fraud charges

ABERDEEN — Police arrested a Richmond County pair on fraud charges Thursday night.

James Vernon Rainwater, 52, and Sandra Webb Yaklin, 54, both of 271 Holly Grove Church Road southwest of Ellerbe, were jailed on one count each of obtaining property by false pretense.

Aberdeen police list Thursday as the offense date in jail booking records.

Rainwater has no criminal convictions since 1988, when he was found guilty of driving while impaired and driving without a license in Richmond County. Records show he also was convicted of being drunk and disorderly in 1980.

Yaklin has no record of North Carolina convictions.

Both Rainwater and Yaklin were booked into the Moore County Detention Center in Carthage under $5,000 secured bonds. They are scheduled to appear in court July 14.
