ROCKINGHAM — The Rick Strickland Band will finally bring its talents to Cole Plaza beside City Hall on Thursday after inclement weather caused the band to reschedule from its original Thursday Plaza Jam date on July 2.

Rick Strickland, according to the band’s website, wrote his first song at the age of 13 and has been in the music business for more than 45 years. He’s written more than 3,000 songs that draw from a variety and wide range of musical styles, genres and influences. Six original songs by Strickland are now in the 94.9 Surf Hall of Fame.

The band consists of Art Benton on keyboard and vocals, Debbie Anderson on vocals and bass guitar, Lesa Hudson on vocals and keyboards and its newest member, Dale Phillips on drums.

The Rick Strickland Band will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The city of Rockingham’s Plaza Jam series will continue on Aug. 6 with The Tams taking the stage.
