ROCKINGHAM — A Hamlet woman is facing several criminal charges for allegedly stealing and pawning several items.

According to arrest warrants, 23-year-old April Dennis Banks, of Old Laurinburg Road, took a Remington .22-caliber rifle from the home of another woman on March 26 and pawned it for $45 at Ned’s No. 2 Jewelry/Audio/Pawn in Rockingham.

On April 24, Banks is accused of taking a Craftsman push lawnmower, valued at $100, from the same woman and returning to the same pawn shop and netting $48.

Banks returned to the woman’s home six days later and stole a mother’s ring with multi-colored stones, court documents state. She then pawned the $200 ring at EZ Pawn Shop in Hamlet for $45.

She was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of misdemeanor larceny, three felony counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and a felony count of larceny of a firearm. Banks was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond and bailed out the following morning.

Records show Banks has no other pending charges or past criminal convictions in North Carolina.
