ROCKINGHAM — An East Rockingham intersection will be closed Wednesday as crews perform repair work to a CSX railroad crossing.

The rail crossing on Airport Road at its intersection with Gin Mill Road will close for repairs, contractor Southern Commercial Development of Lexington, South Carolina said in a news release. Traffic will be rerouted from the intersection and signs will be in place marking the detour routes.

Repair work usually closes the crossings for two consecutive days, but the amount of time can vary depending on conditions. Closure dates are subject to change due to weather and other factors.

Contractors also announced a temporary closure at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Warden Street in Cheraw, South Carolina on July 15 for similar repair work.
