The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for this evening, demonstrating that Old Man Winter is not yet done with the Sandhills region of North Carolina.
There is an 80 percent chance of rain between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. this afternoon, according to the forecast followed by sleet, possibly mixed with rain. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
The possibility for sleet will continue through 8 p.m., at which point the precipitation is expected to turn into all rain with a low around 35 degrees.
More rain is in the forecast for Friday but, with a high near 40, it should remain just that. Rainfall could be heavy at times, with between a quarter and half-inch of precipitation possible.
The weekend forecast calls for sunny skies Saturday and Sunday with temperatures in the mid-60s.
