The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Richmond County beginning at 4 p.m. today until midnight.
The NWS predicts a chance of light snow and potential for black ice. Accumulations could range from 1 to 2 inches.
Cold air rushing from the northwest will change rain to snow from northwest to southeast this afternoon and into the evening.
The NWS warns that roads could become slick around or near the evening rush hour through the evening hours due to the rapidly falling temperatures this evening and overnight. A flash freeze of water or black ice could also quickly develop.
Temperatures will be mild today but will fall rapidly into the lower 30s as the precipitation falls later today and into the 20s this evening.
