On Saturday, Sept. 14, BackPack Pals will have its second annual fundraiser kickoff at Church of Prophecy, located at 615 Cheraw Road Hwy 177 S. in Hamlet, hosted by Ernie’s Xtreme Motorsports.
“We are expecting a larger turnout this year,” said Pastor Steve Crews, volunteer director for BackPack Pals.
At the fundraiser there will be a car, truck and motorcycle show, singers performing and food available for purchasing. The food that attendees of the event can purchase includes hot dogs, hamburgers and fries.
Registration for the car show will begin at 9 a.m. and will cost $20. Trophies will be given to the top 20 winners and the best of show.
The entertainment will begin at 11 a.m., which will include Roy Gaddy, an Elvis tribute artist and Bill Brady, a George Jones tribute artist. Crews said that the singers will be performing on a stage and those who attend the fundraiser can sit and enjoy the music.
“We want people to come out to enjoy themselves, look at the cars, enjoy a hamburger and support the BackPack Pals,” he said.
“All the proceeds from the car show and the sales will go to the BackPack Pals program,” said Crews.
The fundraiser will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
