Cutest Pet Contest kicks off today
Do you have the cutest pet around?
You’ll get the chance to find out beginning today as entries are accepted for The Daily Journal’s Cutest Pet Contest, sponsored by Richmond County government and the Richmond County Animal Shelter.
Entries will be accepted through Feb. 16. Online voting among viewers begins that same day. The winning pet and its owner will be announced in early March.
Folks with pets can submit their photos online starting Tuesday. Simply click on the contest logo on The Daily Journal website (www.yourdailyjournal.com) and follow the directions. All one needs is a valid email address and some cute pets to get started.
Cats and dogs are the norm, but it’s expected that plenty of other types of pets in Richmond County — horses, cows, pot-bellied pigs, ducks, ferrets, chinchillas, goats and maybe even a few snakes.
Prizes will be awarded to winners, thanks to the generosity of Richmond County government and the Richmond County Animal Shelter.
There will be a cash prize to the winner and there is no cost to enter.
“We expect this to be a lot of fun, and hope that people participate,” said Kevin Spradlin, editor and content manager with The Richmond County Daily Journal. “Based on feedback generated from recent animal-related coverage, it’s clear that people’s pets mean an awful lot to them. So get out your cameras and take some photos.”
And, of course, Spradlin and those employed with Richmond County government and the Richmond County Animal Shelter are encouraging everyone to start entering their pets in the contest Tuesday and then visit the website to peruse the competition.
