ROCKINGHAM — Golf balls plunged to the manicured green from a crane, and when the bouncing and rolling stopped, Jeff Hamilton was $1,000 richer.

The golf ball Hamilton bought landed closest to the hole, netting him $1,000 at last Saturday’s Rockingham Lions Club Roar at the Park. Hughes Welding and Crane Service provided the crane for the third-annual Lions Club fundraiser for the blind and visually impaired.

Jamie Graham and Jason Byrd won $400 each in the Roar at the Park cornhole tournament.

The Lions Club thanked its sponsors and contributors for helping the group raise money for vision services. The club is seeking new members and meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse on Alcan Road off U.S. 220. For more information, call the club at 910-895-1112.
