The Hamlet Senior Center Red Hatters recently celebrated the 16th birthday of the Red Hat Society.
The Red Hat Society was founded by Sue Ellen Cooper on April 25, 1998 in California. The Red Hat Society’s primary purpose is social interaction and bonding among women. Members 50 and older are called “Red Hatters” and wear red hats and purple attire. Members under the age of 50 are called “Pink Hatters” and wear pink hats and lavender attire.
The Red Hat Society has 57,308 members in 30 countries. The Hamlet Senior Center Red Hatters consist of 3 Chapterettes named The Red Hat Divas, The Ladies with a Hattitude and The Glamour Chicks.
