ROCKINGHAM — Broad Street Jewelry and Loan at Broad Street Square in Rockingham has long been an established place to buy, sell and trade. Started in 1993 by entrepreneur Mike Stogner, the pawn shop was recently sold to 20-year employee Glenn Taylor.
“I don’t know if I would have stayed in this business so long if it weren’t for Glenn,” said Stogner. “He has really kept this place going with his ideas and vision. I know he will apply everything he knows and be successful.”
Marking the beginning of a new era, Taylor said he is excited to expand on what he has learned from Stogner, who has been his mentor in business and life.
“Mike has taught me a lot over the years,” said Taylor. “I hope to take what he has taught me and use it to continue the legacy that he started.”
One new addition to the store will be a license to buy and sell firearms.
“The main focus of our business will continue to be new and used jewelry and electronics, but I do plan to add some new things as I grow,” said Taylor.
Taylor said the most important part of the business has always been the customers.
“I have some great customers who have been coming here for years to shop or have jewelry repaired,” Taylor said. “I realize that our customers are the most important part of the business, and look forward to continuing those relationships while building new ones along the way.”
