ROCKINGHAM — With any luck, Reese Bostic will become a household name. Or, at least the “Reese” part.

An instructor at Richmond Community College, Bostic has been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug. So on Thursday, he marked the official opening of J. Reese Products, selling a line of cleaning products from bleach to laundry pods.

“It’s a good-quality product,” he said of the J. Reese line, which he helped develop. “It’s a new line at an affordable price.” And, he said, it’s environmentally friendly.

For example, Reese said, a gallon of his laundry detergent costs $9.95. During his first few days of business, a second gallon will be available for 20 percent off. Together, both bottles would cost about the same as 1 gallon of a similar brand.

Products are made for both residential and commercial use, and include Clean Green laundry detergent, Feel-So-Soft fabric softener and Diamond Sparkle dish detergent. The line also includes a multipurpose cleaner, laundry pods, dishwasher pods and bleach. Other products are being developed, Reese said.

Bostic and his partner, Ronnie Covington, will make retail sales only from their shop at Suite E, 225 S. Hancock St. in Rockingham. The building houses several businesses; Bostic’s is on the north side of the redbrick building.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The business phone is 910-894-3701.

“I like trying things,” Bostic said, as his wife, Eunice, prepared snacks for the grand opening and ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon. “I like starting up new things and making a success.”
