ROCKINGHAM — Wayne Crank has been elected fourth commandant of Marine Corps League Detachment 1252, the Richmond Leathernecks. Crank will replace A.B. Thompson, commandant for seven years.

Crank served in active duty from 1997 to 1981 as a combat mortar man. He now works for Ingersoll Rand in Southern Pines and lives in Rockingham with his wife, Lydia Hearne.

As commandant, Crank will lead the league in its commitment to the Toys for Tots and Backpack Pals programs.
