Masons award scholarships

The 29th Masonic District Masons, Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge North Carolina, recognized 26 local high school and college students with scholarships on April 14.

Eighteen of the awards were made by lodges from Richmond County:

• Poplar Hill 331 — 10 scholarships;

• Day Springs 44 — five scholarships;

• Hamlet Review 105 — one scholarship;

• Square Deal 801 — one scholarship;

• Macedonia 629 — one scholarship.

Twelve of the students will be recognized again at the Richmond Senior High banquet in May.

The 29th Masonic District awarded a total of $13,500 to students on the district which covers Richmond, Scotland and Robeson counties, where Richard Nicholson serves as district deputy grand master.

This year’s scholars are: Daquan Patterson, Nautica McCallum, Brittany Jacobs, Omega Roberson, Arlenna Douglas, Hannah Bethea, Carl Isaac Jr, Amal Mckenzie, Jasmine Mason, Jada Mckenzie, Terrel Everette, Eran Greene, JeLisa Robinson, Bobby Watkins Jr, Da’Shawn Peterkin, Tiarra Watkins, Hailey Bass, Donald Caulder III, Maggie Chambers, Chelsea Williamson, Michael Ellington, Ariel Ingram, Moquesha Ingram, Skyler Bennett, Terrance Davis and Trayquil Nabors.
