DOBBINS HEIGHTS — A man with a previous felony drug conviction is charged with having a weapon and drugs in a Richmond County Park.
Investigators say the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office received a call about “illegal activity” at Dobbins Heights Park on Tuesday.
Deputies arrested 24-year-old Marcus Antiwan Douglas, of Earle Franklin Drive for having a handgun and a small amount of marijuana, according to the sheriff’s office.
Douglas was charged with a felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon and a misdemeanor count of simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
Online records show he is scheduled to appear in court on March 16 and has no other pending charges.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Douglas received probation after being convicted in 2014 on a felony charge of possession with intent to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance.
