PINEHURST — The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is still actively pursuing the search for a missing woman identified as Christy Pearson Wills.

Wills was last seen on Sunday, Sept. 4, shortly before noon in the vicinity of Juniper Lake Road near Murdocksville Road, which is located outside the Pinehurst/Taylortown area of Moore County.

Wills is a 40-year-old white female, approximately 5-feet, 6-inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with dark shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. Wills has ties to Richmond County and deputies believe she could possibly be heading in that direction.

The Aberdeen Times reports she was last seen wearing a black top and either blue jeans or blue jean shorts.

Officials conducted search operations on the ground in the area of Juniper Lake Road and Big Rock Road — while a helicopter from the N.C. Highway Patrol searched from the air — on Sunday, the Aberdeen Times reported. The ground search continued Tuesday morning.

Other agencies involved in the search included: Moore County Public Safety, Foxfire Police Department K-9, Pinehurst Fire Department, Eastwood Fire Department, West End Fire and Rescue, a N.C. Department of Corrections K-9 team and a K-9 team from Chatham County.

According to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, she had still not been found just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
