Churches to celebrate Pentecost Sunday

POPLAR SPRINGS MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH will have a prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. The guest speaker for the occasion will be Sister Leila Jones of Livingston Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Gibson. Everyone is invited to attend.

NEW HOPE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1596 U.S. 74 East, Hamlet, will have a women’s fellowship luncheon at 12:30 p.m. The keynote speaker will be first lady Annie Johnson and Sister Kenyatta Johnson along with missionary Deborah Brown of New Horizon Church of God in Christ.

RIVERS OF LIFE, 106 Pence St., East Rockingham, will host The Sons of South Carolina in concert at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

SUNDAY

SARON MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH will celebrate Family and Friends Day starting with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and morning worship at 11 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. E.L. Alexander of Monroe. The afternoon service will be at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Harvey Gatewood of Morven along with the Holly Grove Missionary Church choir. Dinner will be served after the service. LIVINGSTON CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH will have its deacon ordination service at 3 p.m. on June 7. The two men being ordained are Kevin Wall and Charles Willis. Moderator Jimmy Gilchrist of the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Educational Association will bring the message. All deacons are welcome to come and participate in this service.

MCDONALD BAPTIST CHURCH, 259 McDonald Church Road, Rockingham, will have its vacation Bible school kick-off from noon to 3 p.m. on June 13 for registration. The “Journey Off The Map” themed Bible school will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. nightly June 14-18.

TRINITY EMMANUEL HOLINESS CHURCH, 130 Entwistle St., East Rockingham, will have revival at 6 p.m. on June 14 and at 7 p.m. nightly June 15-19. The guest speaker will be Evangelist Keith Speed with special singing each night.

MOUNT SINAI BAPTIST CHURCH is currently conducting registration for its annual Sinai Kingdom summer camp. The camp will begin on June 15, will end July 31, but will be closed during the week of July 6 in observance of Independence Day. The camp is open to young people from ages 4-14. The camp will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The initial registration fee is $45, and the weekly rate is $30. If there are multiple children from a family, discounts will be given. Contact Camp Director Cordelia Steele at 910-417-9552 to arrange a time to complete the registration packet. This packet, along with the registration fee, will need to be completed and received before the young person(s) can attend the camp.
