LEAK STREET ALUMNI INC. will honor Mr. James Clyde Watkins at 5 p.m. at the Leak Street Education and Cultural Community Center, 1004 Leak St., Rockingham. Expressions of congratulations and donations to the Leak Street Alumni Inc. Endowment Fund in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Watkins may be mailed to P.O. Box 2252, Rockingham, NC 28380.

LEAK STREET ALUMNI CHAPTER OF ROCKINGHAM will present a play entitled “Stay Connected” at 7 p.m. in the Leak Street Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

AMERICAN LEGION POST 147 AND SONS OF AMERICAN LEGION will meet at 7 p.m. at the post home at Ledbetter Lake.

FORD’S BLUEGRASS MILL, 134 City Lake Drive, Rockingham, will have a dance every Friday night at 7:30 p.m. with different live bands playing bluegrass, country and/or Southern rock. July 4

RICHMOND COUNTY LANDFILL AND CONVENIENCE SITES will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day. While other county offices will be closed on the July 3, the convenience sites will remain open that day under normal scheduled hours.

HAMLET BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT to host Fourth of July celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. on Main Street in Hamlet with family fun, live music by Band of Gold, food and drinks, balloon animals and tattoos for kids and water fun. Bring swimming shorts. A fireworks show will take place at 9:15 p.m. at the Hamlet Depot and Main Street Park, so bring a lawn chair.

LEAK STREET ALUMNI CHAPTER OF ROCKINGHAM will have its annual “Walk Down Memory Lane” from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Liberty Place, East Washington Street, Rockingham. The cost will be $10 at the door.

July 6

BURLINGTON INDUSTRIES RETIRED EMPLOYEES will meet for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the Holiday Restaurant.

THE TOWN OF HOFFMAN has rescheduled its regular board meeting from July 6 to 7:30 p.m. on July 13 in the Town Hall building.

ANNUAL DOWNTOWN SIDEWALK SALE AND CIRCUS in downtown Southern Pines from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers can find deals in the downtown Southern Pines stores. The Broad Street sidewalks and surrounding blocks will transform into an all-American summer carnival with clowns, games, photo booths and other attractions as if under a circus big top.
