CARTHAGE — A Rockingham man was jailed Friday on a Moore County theft charge.

Rodney Eugene Sanders, 48, of 127 Aslington St., was booked into the Moore County Detention Center at 1:08 p.m. on a charge of misdemeanor larceny, jail records show. Moore County sheriff’s deputies made the arrest.

Sanders was released from prison in May 2010 after serving a minimum 1-year, 3-month sentence on felony breaking and entering and Level 2 driving while impaired charges in Richmond County, according to the N.C. Division of Adult Correction.

Sanders’ criminal history dates to 1984 with multiple convictions including larceny, drug possession, receiving stolen goods, assault inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon, breaking and entering, impaired driving and driving while license revoked.

He was jailed on a $1,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on July 16.
