RURAL HALL — The Library Summer Reading program is up and running. The Rural Hall Branch offers a wide array of programs for all ages with a Heroes Read theme.

June 29, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., Fish the Magish. A super reader magic show that romises to be funny, entertaining, and inspiring for young readers.

July 1, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., Kid’s Movie Matinee. Create a box creature before watching The Box Trolls. Supplies and snacks provided.

July 7, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., Mural Painting. Paint a superhero’s eye view of where you live. Ages 4 and up.

July 8, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., General Genealogy. Find a hero in your family, an introduction to geneology with Librarian Karen Feeney.

July 14, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., NC Zoo Visits. Not all heroes are human. NC Zoo shares unconventional heroes of the animal kingdom.

July 15, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., Teen Fashion Design. Picture what your favorite hero/character wears. Use fashion boards, fabric and other materials to design a new outfit for them.

July 20, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., Captain Jim. Visit with a pirate that does magic, and find heroic inspiration.

July 22, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., Ken Bloom in Concert. Ken Bloom has performed solo all over North America playing at major folk festivals and concert halls. He has played with Linda Ronstadt, Michael Martin Murphy and Steve Goodman. He will play bowed dulcimer.

July 23, 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Brightstar touring theater presents Jackie Robinson. This baseball star was a hero in professional sports integration. Hear his story and cheer him on as he scores his first home run.

July 31, 2 p.m., Super Hero Finale. Monkey Hooper will share the joy of hula hoops and prizes will be awarded during the summer reading celebration.
