Brogdon, Gallagher wed

Miss Meredith McKay Brogdon and Mr. Robert Ryan Gallagher were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Brogdon Jr. of Pinopolis, South Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ronald Ballard of Rockingham, Dr. and Mrs. William Roy Peele of Hamlet and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Brogdon of Bennettsville, South Carolina.

The bride graduated from Wofford College in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree in psychology. She earned her senior professional in human resources certification in June of 2011 and is employed as vice president, human resources with The Citco Group in Charlotte.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Albina Coccetti Gallagher of Charlotte and the late Mr. Robert Arthur Gallagher. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dominick Coccetti of Endwell, New York, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Calvert Bennie Gallagher of Cortland, New York.

The groom is a 1998 graduate of Binghamton University with a bachelor of science degree in applied social science. He received his project management professional certification in June 2015 and is employed as director of project management with Baker & Taylor in Charlotte.

The ceremony was held at the Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church in Charlotte and officiated by the Rev. Lori A. Raible. Mr. John Siler, organist, Mr. Jason Robison trumpeter, both of Charlotte, and Mr. Charles Miles of Darlington, South Carolina, vocalist, provided the music. Readers were Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Adam Tesch of Charlotte, friends of the couple.

Hosted by the bride’s parents, dinner and dancing followed at the Urban Garden, located in The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte with music by Fantasy. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Michael Simonette of Charlotte, friends of the bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wayne Skipper and Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Mays Smith, family friends of Marion, South Carolina.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Her dress was a strapless white silk ball gown embellished with Chantilly and re-embroidered lace and tulle featuring asymmetric horsehair peplum designed by BLISS Monique Lhuillier. She carried her great-grandmother Brogdon’s handkerchief with her bouquet which was wrapped in lace from her mother’s wedding dress.

Maid of honor was Ashleigh Brogdon Rury, sister of the bride, of Tequesta, Florida. Bridesmaids were her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Herlong Brogdon of Columbia, South Carolina; cousins, Kathryn Newton Heustess of Leland, North Carolina, Mary Catherine Potter Mitchell of Spartanburg, South Carolina and Stacy Wells Newton of Raleigh; friends, Whitney Grones Bretzman of Huntersville, North Carolina, Karissa Tanton Phillips and Jamie Lynn Vollenweider, both of Charlotte, Shelia Brown Hess of Aynor, South Carolina and April Sawyer Timko of Simpsonville, South Carolina. Miss Morgan Miller Brogdon, niece of the bride, of Columbia, South Carolina, was the flower girl.

The groom’s brother-in-law, Fred Robert Kriger of Charlotte, served as best man. Groomsmen were James Edward Brogdon III, brother of the bride, of Columbia, South Carolina; Jeremy Justin Rury, brother-in-law of the bride, of Tequesta, Florida; Steven Craig Newton II of Raleigh, James Kyle Heustess of Leland, North Carolina, cousins of the bride; Robert Sean Gallagher, brother of the groom, of New York; Kenneth William Hall of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Martin George Young of Oak Ridge, North Carolina, brother-in-laws of the groom; Kelly Joseph Brandt of Charlotte and Kjell Magnus Breilid of Robbinsville, New Jersey, friends of the groom. The ring bearer was the bride’s nephew, William Miller Rury of Tequesta, Florida.

A luncheon honoring the bride and her attendants was hosted by family and friends of the bride at the Charlotte City Club on the eve of the wedding.

The bride and groom were honored with a rehearsal dinner given by the groom’s mother at Vivace in downtown Charlotte. The groom’s family and friends honored Meredith with a luncheon and shower on Saturday, May 30 at the Morehead Inn in Charlotte.

Following a honeymoon to El Dorado Resort in Riviera Maya, the couple will reside in Charlotte.
