The 2017 4-H Farm Credit Showmanship Circuit is nearing the end! Richmond County youth have been placing high in each division, taking away lots of ribbons, trophies and premium money.

Tobey Lunceford is currently in 7th place in the circuit for Junior Goat Showmanship. Savannah Shepard is currently 1st and Ava Berry 5th in the Intermediate Goat Showmanship Division. Coleman Berry is currently 1st and DeLani Reep 7th in the Senior Goat Showmanship Division. Our youth have gained more skills and learned more information about the animal industry at each show that they go to. Judges ask them different questions that they remember for future shows and learn new techniques for not only showing, but getting animals ready beforehand for the show ring.

Cloverbud showmen include Lexi Reep and Ella Shelley.

The show schedule and points are listed on the Richmond County extension website at: https://richmond.ces.ncsu.edu/site-richmond-9/.

Congratulations to all of our 4-H participants for a job well done! The next and final circuit goat show will be in Robeson County on Saturday at the Robeson Regional Agricultural Fair at 2:30 pm. Our youth will then prepare to show their animals at the Junior wether and doe shows at the North Carolina State Fair. There they will compete for top honors, premium money and scholarship money. Please come out and support our youth!

The North Carolina State Fair Junior wether showmanship show will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Expo Building. The wether show will be 9 a.m. the next day in the same building. The Junior doe showmanship show will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16 at the Expo Building and the commercial doe show will be the same day at 4 p.m.
