DOG WASH AND OPEN HOUSE from noon to 5 p.m. at Richmond County Animal Shelter, with proceeds benefiting Richmond County Animal Advocates.

COMMUNITY BARBECUE, sponsored by Concerned Citizens of Richmond County, will feature food, music, guest speakers, a video screening of “Rising Up With Richmond County,” and other outdoor activities. The event is free to the public and will run from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Dobbins Heights Community Center.

THE MINERAL SPRINGS IMPROVEMENT COUNCILwill have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Service Center on Railroad Street in Ellerbe. All interested citizens are invited to attend.

BLOOD DRIVE by the American Red Cross from 1:30 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Ellerbe. The goal is 61 donors. Sign up online with sponsor code: “First Baptist Church Ellerbe” or contact Elsie Freeman at 910-817-4720 to make your appointment for a whole blood or power red cell donation. Visit redcross.org/RapidPass on the day of the drive to reduce wait time.

A LIFESTYLE OF PRAYER will begin at 9:30 a.m. with intercessory prayer, followed by a prayer brunch at 10 a.m. There will be another intercessory prayer at 6:30 p.m., followed by a service at 7. MOVIE NIGHT at Timber’s Crossing Free Will Baptist Church will feature the movie “The Shack,” screening outdoors at 8:45 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lounge chairs. In the case of rain, the event will be moved inside. Refreshments will be served.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT, hosted by the city of Rockingham and the Rockingham Police Department, will feature finger printing for children, a dunking booth with police officers, and other kids’ attractions, as well as the graduation of cadets from the 2017 Junior Police Academy. The event will be held in Cole Plaza and city hall parking lot and run from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

COUNTRY BREAKFAST at Spring Hill Wesleyan Church from 7 to 10 a.m., all you can eat for $6. Carry-out plates are available. Funds raised will go for future projects, missions and those in need.
