July 3

TOWN OF HOFFMAN will close the office the week of July 3-7. The Summer Enrichment Camp will not be in session this week, but will resume July 10. The town’s board meeting has been rescheduled for July 10 at 7 p.m.

July 4

HAMLET’S ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on W. Main St. in downtown Hamlet. There will be food from the Richmond County Rescue Squad, as well as Twisted Treats and Kona Ice providing sweet treats. There will also be a children’s and adult’s watermelon eating contest and pub trivia in Main Street park.

OLD-FASHIONED 4TH OF JULY PIG PICKING at Touch of Grace on Highland Avenue will run from 1 to 5 p.m. The event, sponsored by Christian Veterans of America, has scheduled: the presentation of flags to 12 veterans; special music; and a visit from Congressman Robert Pittenger.

THE ROHANEN HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1959 will meet for lunch at noon at #1 Diner in Rockingham.

July 7

AMERICAN LEGION POST 147 and Sons of American Legion will meet at 7 p.m. at the Post home at Ledbetter Lake.

July 8

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

sponsored by the East Rockingham United Methodist Church Men’s Club, will serve “All you can eat” from 7 to 10 a.m. A sweets and crafts sale will be held at the same time.

BURLINGTON INDUSTRIES RETIREMENT will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Holiday Restaurant.

July 11

THE RICHMOND COUNTY NAACP will hold its monthly meeting at The Dobbins Heights Community Center, 222 Earle Franklin Drive, Dobbins Heights. The meeting will begin at 7:30 pm with Dr. Cindy Goodman, superintendent of Richmond County Schools, as the guest speaker. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

July 13

MASONIC MEETING will be held, with a dinner at 6:15 p.m. and meeting at 7:30 p.m., at the Hamlet Masonic Lodge No. 532, A.F. & A.M., 307 Main Street, Hamlet.

RAIDER CHEER CAMP will be held from 8 a.m. to noon daily July 24-27 at Richmond Senior High School.

CLERGY & CONGREGANTS LUNCH & LEARN: How to Prevent Suicide and Care For Those Affected will be held at the First United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall located at 410 E. Washington St. in Rockingham from noon-3 p.m. N.C. Chapter Area Director, Betsy Rhodes with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Dana Cea, AFSP-NC Chapter Area co-chair and communications ambassador will be the guest speakers. August 1

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT, hosted by the city of Rockingham and the Rockingham Police Department, will feature finger printing for children, a dunking booth with police officers, and other kids’ attractions, as well as the graduation of cadets from the 2017 Junior Police Academy. The event will be held in Cole Plaza and city hall parking lot and run from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
