SOIL FUNDAMENTALS CLASS is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ag Service Center, 123 Caroline Street, Rockingham.

Whether you enjoy landscaping your home or have a serious vegetable garden, it’s all about the soil. In the Sandhills, you can’t afford to ignore what you are growing in. As spring approaches, start the season off right by learning about our unique Sandhills soil, how to improve it, and have the garden you’ve always dreamed of.

This event is free, but registration is required. A minimum of five registrants is needed to have the class.

April 5

ROHANEN HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1959 will meet for lunch at noon at No. 1 Diner in Rockingham.

ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION, by Monroe Avenue Elementary School and the Hamlet Tree and Beautification Group, will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Hamlet Public Library on the corner of Rice and Main streets. The celebration will include the planting of five trees by 4th graders and a poster contest by 5th graders. Richmond County Forest Ranger Chris McGee will present a program. The public is invited.
