Ayrika Nichole Whittington and Caleb Samuel Smith of Ellerbe were married at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Troy at 7 p.m. on May 1, 2015 by Pastor Rodney Holmes.

The bride is the daughter of Lance and Jessie Whittington of Ellerbe. She is granddaughter of Dale and Linda Whittington of Ellerbe and Tilman and Celia Haywood of Troy and the great-granddaughter of Doris Comer and Jo Haywood. Whittington is currently employed as an accountant.

The groom is the son of Richard and Jane Smith of Ellerbe. He is the grandson of Marion and Tom Covington and Sarah and Tom Covington of Ellerbe.

The bride was given in marriage by Lance Whittington. Cynthia Hunsucker of Troy and the band Blue Horizon provided music for the ceremony.

She wore a sleeveless embroidered lace tulle over memory taffeta trumpet wedding dress featuring an illusion jeweled bateau neckline with scattered hand-beading and edged with delicate beaded trim, drop waist sweetheart lace bodice encrusted with beading and embroidery, plunging open deep V-back illusion bodice with matching scattered beading and trim finished with covered button closures, beaded lace appliqués spill-down skirt to scalloped hemline and chapel length train.

Serving as maid of honor was Autumn Whittington of Ellerbe, matron of honor was Ashlyn Whittington and bridesmaids were Billie Jo Hill of Ellerbe, Natalie Haywood of Troy, Molly Webb of Ellerbe, Laura Grant of Ellerbe and Victoria Smith of Ellerbe. Anna Haywood served as flower girl.

Richard Smith served as the groom’s best man and ushers included Chance Whittington of Ellerbe, Kenneth Hill of Ellerbe, Stephen Webb of Ellerbe, Coleman Snead of Ellerbe and Mark Allan of Ellerbe. Chase Whittington served as ring bearer.

A reception was held at the bride’s parents’ home, and after their wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple resides on Clayton Carriker Road in Ellerbe.
