SOUTHERN PINES — Celebrating 34 years of chamber music in Moore County through the Classical Concert Series, the Arts Council of Moore County says the series’ second concert will feature the award-winning Spanish string quartet Cuarteto Casals at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 at the Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines. Tickets are still available.

Since winning first prizes at the London and Brahms-Hamburg competitions, Cuarteto Casals has been a repeated guest at the world’s most prestigious concert halls throughout Europe, North America and Japan.

Cuarteto Casals often appears on television and radio throughout Europe and North America and is Quartet in Residence at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and the Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya in Barcelona, where all four members reside.

The final two series concerts include British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor on Feb. 1 and The Met Opera Rising Stars on Feb. 22.

A subscription for all three remaining series concerts is available at $75 per person for arts council members ($83 for nonmembers), or attendees can pick two of the series concerts for $54 per person for arts council members ($58 for nonmembers).

Subscribers can save up to 16 percent off the individual ticket price of $30. CCS tickets may be purchased at the arts council offices, Campbell House, 482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines, or by calling 910-692-2787.

In addition to the concert on Oct. 19, Chef Scott Wolcott of Wolcott’s Restaurant is offering a special pre-concert dinner. Located less than three blocks from the Sunrise Theater, Wolcott’s will serve a three-course meal for an all-inclusive price of $37 per person.
