ST. PAULS — A safe haven for sightless felines has launched a new line of wines.

We’re not kitten.

Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary of St. Pauls recently partnered with Benefit Wines to release a mix of reds and whites imported from Chile. “Cat-bernet Sauvignon” and “Meow-lot” are among the six flavors available on the wine seller’s website.

A portion of the sales will be donated to the shelter, according to a press release.

Established in 2005, Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary is home to 91 sightless cats that are considered unadoptable and would face euthanization at traditional shelters. The facility was expanded in 2011 to accommodate cats suffering from leukemia and feline AIDS.

The nonprofit keeps a low profile in St. Pauls, but is quite popular on social media. Its Facebook page has been liked by more than a million people.

Benefit Wines bills itself as America’s No. 1 “charity wine shop.” The online retailer has raised more than $1.9 million for nonprofits — most of them dedicated to animal welfare — since opening in 2007.

The company’s “certified organic and vegan-friendly wines” are fermented on a “free-trade vineyard,” according to its website. To see the full selection of Blind Cat-branded bottles, visit benefitwines.com/BCRS.
