Church homecomings planned Sunday

SYDNEY GROVE CHURCH OF DELIVERANCE, 401 McIntyre Road, Ellerbe, will have a pre-anniversary service at 3 p.m. with guest minister Pastor Griffin Gordon of Moors Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Brunswick.

ST. LUKE NO. 2 FREE WILL BAPTIST CHURCH, 119 Morrow St., Hamlet, will have Elder Charless Ellerbee preach its 10:30 a.m. morning service. The public is invited to come out and enjoy praise and worship.

CONCORD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Ellerbe will celebrate its homecoming at 11 a.m. with an evening music service to take place at 6 p.m. with Thickety Creek Bluegrass Gospel.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 329 West Ave., Hamlet, will celebrate its homecoming during its 11 a.m. morning worship with Dr. Robert Richardson. An afternoon service will be at 3 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Charles Bethea of Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Rockingham. Revival services will take place at 7 p.m. nightly Aug. 17-19 with guest speaker the Rev. Bert Lattaker III of Spring Branch Church in Wagram. The public is invited to attend.

STELLYS TABERNACLE CHURCH will celebrate its annual homecoming during its 11:15 a.m. morning worship. Dinner will be served following the service. An afternoon service will take place at 3 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Robert P. Mathis of Mount Pisgah A.M.E. Zion Church of Rockingham.

EBENEZER MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 875 U.S. 1 N., Rockingham, will have a ministers appreciation service for the Rev. Terrie Ellerbe, Minister Ollie Bell Wall and Minister Luanda Graham at 3 p.m. The guest speaker for this event will be Pastor Daniel C. Scott.

PRAYER AND FAITH TEMPLE CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, 217 Thomas St., Hamlet, will celebrate Pastor Tommy Legrand’s 46th pastoral anniversary at 5 p.m. The guest speaker for this event will be Dr. Herman G. Platt, pastor of Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ in Greensboro and superintendent of the Winston District in the Greater North Carolina Jurisdiction.

UPCOMING-ONGOING

PRAYER DELIVERANCE MINISTRIES, 108 School St., Rockingham, hosts a feeding program for the homeless each Wednesday.

FAITH ASSEMBLY OUTREACH MINISTRIES will be having a soup kitchen 9 to 10:15 a.m. every Sunday and from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. every Tuesday. No one is turned away. Food furnished by the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and donations.

POPLAR SPRINGS MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH will be having a noonday Bible study and prayer meeting every Wednesday. The church will also provide breakfast for worshipers every first Sunday. Everyone is invited to share in these experiences. For information, call 910-997-2468.

NEW BETHEL A.M.E. ZION CHURCH will have a monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. every first and third Saturday. The breakfast is $5 for eat-in or take-out.

MORNING STAR HOUSE OF REFUGE, 120 McArthur St., Hamlet, will have a 10 a.m. morning service and a 7 p.m. night service every first, second and third Sunday of the month. Bible study will be from 6 to 7 p.m. every Thursday. All are invited to worship here.

FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH, 987 U.S. 1 North, Rockingham, offers a contemporary service at 9 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m. on Sundays. Sunday school is in between at 10 a.m. with Sunday night services beginning at 6 p.m. and Wednesday night Bible study starting at 7 p.m.

FAITH ASSEMBLY OUTREACH MINISTRIES, 148 Daniels St., Hamlet, offers Sunday morning breakfast and delivery at 9 a.m., Sunday school at 10:30 a.m. and morning worship at 11:45 a.m. Every second Sunday, it will offer its Sister 2 Sister program at 4:30 p.m. The church will have its Tuesday soup kitchen at 5:45 p.m., Tuesday Bible study at 7 p.m., Friday morning food box at 10:30 a.m., Friday night service at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday morning food box at 10:30 a.m.
