August 7

ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL B.A.S.H. hosted by the Rockingham Housing Authority from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Falling Creek Recreational Park. There will be free school supplies, the friendly neighborhood dental van will be on site offering comprehensive dental care (most insurance accepted) and free food sponsored by the Rockingham Police Department. In order to win a door prize, participants must bring a canned good to receive a ticket. One ticket will be given for every two canned good items. Canned goods will be donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. To donate school supplies or set up an informational booth, contact Chereka Belton-Odom at 910-997-3316, ext. 7.

AMERICAN LEGION POST 147 AND SONS OF AMERICAN LEGION will meet at 7 p.m. at the post home.

August 8

PANCAKE BREAKFAST sponsored by the East Rockingham United Methodist Church Men’s Club from 7 to 10 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. The charge is $4 for all-you-can-eat. A sweets and craft sale will be held at the same time.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. nightly Aug. 10-14 at Sweet Haven Church. Meals will be served at 5:45 p.m., and commencement will take place at 6 p.m. on Aug. 16. The theme will be “Journey Off The Map.” See Shannon Rodgers at the church to volunteer.

A MORNING OF PAINTING OUTDOORS will be held at 9 a.m. at the Pee Dee Artist Guild’s next monthly paint-in the home of May MacCallum in Rockingham. MacCallum’s yard includes a small lake with reflections and wildlife. The house will also be open for sketching. Parking will be available in front of the house on the grass. Bring a bag lunch.
