The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) returns to Rockingham Dragway for its biggest and most prestigious race on the 2010 ADRL Tour.

Simpson Dragstock VII takes place on Sept. 10-11 and will surely bring another capacity crowd to the record-setting facility in Rockingham.

This year marks the fifth straight year the ADRL has staged Dragstock at Rockingham Dragway, and each race has attracted standing-room only crowds.

A year ago, numerous world records were set at Dragstock VI, including the fastest Pro Extreme field in ADRL history, the first all 3-second field in Pro Nitrous and a new E.T. record in Pro Extreme Motorcycle. The fast times and exciting action are major reasons why Dragstock is annually the most anticipated event of the ADRL season.

Dragstock VII is the eighth of 10 national events this season. By the end of the weekend, only one race will remain before the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals VI, which takes place at Texas Motorplex on Oct. 22-23.

In 2009, winners at Dragstock VI included Doug Kirk (Extreme Pro Stock), Eric McKinney (Pro Extreme Motorcycle), Chuck Ulsch (Extreme 10.5), Mike Castellana (Pro Nitrous) and Jason Hamstra (Pro Extreme). The memorable two days of racing was all done in front of another overflow crowd.

This year, the ADRL is expecting even more excitement in each of the five (Extreme Pro Stock, Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Extreme 10.5, Pro Nitrous and Pro Extreme) professional eighth-mile drag racing classes plus the Pro Junior Dragsters.

With only one race remaining before the World Finals, drivers will leave everything on the line to try to position themselves or make one last effort to move into the top eight to race for the Speedtech “Battle For The Belts.”

The spectator gates open at 9 a.m. Friday, with the first round of qualifying set to begin at 11 a.m. A special jet-car and monster truck pass concludes the evening session.

On Saturday, the racing will begin at 11 a.m. with the fourth and final qualifying session of Dragstock VII.

The first round of eliminations starts at 3 p.m., with a special jet-car and monster truck pass concluding the evening.
