Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter United Methodist Church, 205 North Bridges St., Hamlet, with Rev. Angelo Troy and Eulogist, Pastor and Rev. Charles White, Jr. Burial will follow in the Mary Love Cemetery, Hamlet.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Service in Hamlet.
He is survived by his wife, Vallie M. “Val” Washington; two sons, John Washington of Mint Hill, and Richard Gilchrist of Boston, Mass.; one daughter, Cheryl Streeter of Matthews; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; seven sisters, Willie Mae Jones, Grace Quick of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mary B. Washington, Laura Robbins, Delores Carlton of Hamlet, Renee Washington of Wilmington, and Peggie Huey of Raeford; three brothers, Bernard McNeil of Dover, Del., Vernon Washington of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Carey Washington of Rockingham.
