ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior softball team keeps adding to its school record.
Richmond won for the 22nd straight time this season, this time a 4-1 victory over Southeastern Conference foe Pinecrest Monday night.
The Raiders, which clinched the regular season title before Spring Break, are 9-0 in the SEC and will look to go undefeated in back-to-back seasons 7 p.m. Thursday against Scotland.
“It was a great defensive outing tonight,” Richmond coach Wendy Wallace said. “We had some good situational hitting. We had several players with hits tonight.”
Richmond totaled 11 hits in the win. Jennifer Steen went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in. Katie Satterfield was also 3 of 3 with two doubles. Doodle Jacobs and Summer Jacobs each had a hit and an RBI for the Raiders.
Summer Jacobs earned the pitching victory, hurling a complete-game four-hitter. She walked one and struck out four.
Pinecrest blanks Richmond
ROCKINGHAM — For the second straight outing and fourth time this season, the Richmond Senior soccer team ended up on the wrong end of a mercy rule.
Pinecrest stopped Richmond 9-0 with approximately 13 minutes remaining in the game Monday night at Raider Stadium.
“It was the same story as before — not marking up,” Richmond coach Bennie Howard said.
The Raiders fall to 4-11-1 overall and 2-7 in the Southeastern Conference.
The team will close out its regular season schedule 7 p.m. Thursday at home against Scotland on Senior Night. Earlier this season, Scotland stopped Richmond 4-2.
