Mrs. Annie Shy Vance, 90, of 803 Dogwood Lane, Rockingham, N.C., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Columbus County, daughter of Hint Duncan and Chellie Stocks Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hansel Vance and first husband, Carl Richard Shy Sr.; sisters, Edith Swails and Dorothy Honeycutt; brother, Clyde Duncan; and step-son, Kenneth Vance.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann Phagan of the home and Shirley Roscoe and husband Edward of Hamlet; sons, Carl Shy Jr. and wife Barbara of Hamlet and Willie Shy and wife Helen of Cheraw; sister, Joyce Hodges of Cordova; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at Harrington Funeral Home.
The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. in the Harrington Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lester English and the Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.
