Ervin Cuyler Hennecy Jr., 82, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Hamlet, N.C., died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at his home.

He was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Marion County, S.C., a son of the late Ervin Cuyler and Mildred Coker Hennecy.

Hennecy served the U.S. Marines during the Korean War and was retired General Foreman with CSX Railroad. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hamlet until he moved to Myrtle Beach and transferred his membership to First Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha McMillian Hennecy; a son, Ervin Hennecy; and a stepdaughter, Diane Britt McKenzie.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Britt-Hennecy of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Pat Hennecy Steiner and husband Jeff of Menomenee, Wis.; grandchildren, Eric Steiner and Whitney Steiner Emmerich and husband Jay; brother, Gene Hennecy and wife Joyce of Charlotte and their children, Lori Hennecy of Charlotte and Bobby and Sherry Hennecy of Raleigh; a stepson, Tommy Britt and wife Jacque of Laurinburg and their children Mary Taylor, Curt and Katherine Britt; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday at First Baptist Church in Hamlet.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at the First Baptist Church in Hamlet with the Rev. Randy Bishop officiating. Entombment will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
