Beavers earns doctorate

Dr. Teressa Beavers recently presented and defended her capstone at Wingate University.

Beavers has been a student with the Richmond Cohort I of Wingate University for three years. She is an academic coach for Richmond County Schools.

Her degree is in educational leadership. Her research followed children who attended pre-K in 2007-08 through fourth grade. This study set out to find out the impact of Early Reading First Literacy intervention on students later reading successes.

Beavers graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1981 and has taught school for over in the Richmond County Schools system for more than 15 years. She has worked as a teacher, administrator and coach for 28 years. She also taught for Scotland County Schools and Warren County Schools. She has been an educator for more than 28 years.

Beavers graduated at the end of the summer session and will attend the graduation ceremony in May at Wingate University’s main campus.

Beavers is married to Billy Beavers and is the daughter of John and Evelyn Brown. She lives in Rockingham.
