Sarah Mammarella, of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, and Lauren Clark, an income maintenance worker for the Department of Social Services, enjoy a local celebration of Food Day at the NCCE’s Rockingham office. The dishes served included balsamic roasted beet salad, sweet potato bread, bacon butternut soup and butternut soup with cumin. All vegetables that were prepared came from David’s Produce and The Berry Patch, both in Ellerbe. Food Day is a movement for healthy, affordable and sustainable food.
