Colin Goodwin took first place in science*, Jessica Matheson brought home second place in acrylic painting and Nicholas Pinto won second place in social studies. Lee Hayden brought home third-place honors in the essay contest.

Rockingham Middle competed against more than 100 schools and more than 3,000 students from throughout North Carolina. Winnters have an opportunity to go to Nashville, Tennessee June 25-29 to compete against other winners from across the country.

* = An earlier version of this story misstated Colin Goodwin’s award as second place. Rockingham Middle School confirmed that Colin won first place in the science category.
