ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Community Theatre will hold auditions for the third show of the season, “The Lady with All the Answers,” a play by David Rambo depicting the life of the late Eppie Lederer who became famous in a weekly column written under her pen name, Ann Landers.

“Since it is a one-woman show, we want to give the lucky woman who is cast in the part plenty of time to learn this approximately 30-page script long before rehearsals and performances begin,” Director Shelly Walker said in an email.

Walker said that rehearsal and performance attendance will be important since the entire play centers around a single actress.

Walker is looking for just the right person for this part. There is even an audition event page on Facebook. She asks that everyone visit the Facebook page and share the audition information with friends and relatives to help get the word out.

Auditions take place from 7-9 p.m. today and Wednesday at the 109 E. Washington St. theatre in downtown Rockingham.

Auditions will be cold readings from the script. The character needed is one woman between the ages of 40 to 60 who could play Ann Landers.

“We will hold auditions for our next play, ‘Always a Bridesmaid,’ at the beginning of December,” Walker said.

The rehearsal schedule is intense, so anyone interested in portraying Landers should think it over carefully before committing to the role, Walker added.

Beginning March 3, rehearsals will be held from 7-10 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be one Monday rehearsal, also from 7 —10 p.m., March 30. And on Tuesday, March 31, the rehearsal goes “off-book,” and that means no more glancing at the script.

In April, the schedule changes up. A rehearsal will be held from 7-10 p.m. April 1. April 7, 9 and 10 will be 7 —10 p.m. rehearsals with costumes.

The week of April 12 consists of dress rehearsals starting at 7 p.m. from Monday through Wednesday.

Performances are scheduled for each Thursday, Friday and Saturday from March 16-25. Call time is 6:30 for each performance, and curtain is at 8 p.m.
