YouthBuild Project DirectorThe Lumber River Council of Governments, a regional planning and service agency serving Bladen, Hoke, Richmond, Robeson and Scotland Counties, is seeking a YouthBuild Project Director. Performs administrative work in coordinating the YouthBuild Grant for the Workforce Development Division to include, but not limited to administrative, fiscal control and supervision work. Employee serves as resource and staff to the Lumber River Youth Council. An employee in this class will facilitate, coordinate, develop and implement the Department of Labor YouthBuild Grant. The local initiative is entitled Project GreenBuild. Directly supervises two subordinates and oversees the safety and welfare of up to 70 youth participants. Work involves coordinating with local educational institutions, housing authority, community probation and parole, and others committed to addressing education, local employment or housing challenges. Employee will serve as the lead liaison with contractors, training institutions, employers and community agencies in the development of effective activities and coordinating supportive services. Work includes development and submission of appropriate documents and reports to the Lumber River Youth Council, Lumber River Workforce Development Board and Council of Governments. Work is performed independently under the supervision of Workforce Development Administrator and is evaluated through discussion, observation, and reports. Employee must understand the relationship between the project’s performance goals, program design, and program outcomes and ensure proper recording of program outcomes to maximize performance levels. Prefer Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Business Management, Public Administration, Human Resources, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field and four years’ experience in a related area. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the college requirement with related experience that provides for knowledge of business administration, occupational requirements, employment and training problems, and practices similar to those encountered in employment or social services agencies. Must be able to pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license. Salary Range is $40,247 - $43,341.
